I can answer your question from recent personal experience and local
enquiries. So my information is accurate and up to date.
If you have a bad credit report from Canada's two reporting agencies
Trans Union and Equifax there is little you can do. You are basically
stuffed for six years. Applying will get you nowhere. An enquiry will
stay on your bureau for three years if you apply with a bureau member.
Multiple enquires will put a warning flag on most bank computers. So
you are best not to apply. Even for any credit. What you can do is go
to Vancouver City Credit Union. Her is how it works. The banks are
currently shinning away from recourse cards. All the six banks are the
same, you apply at one you will get the same deal at another. So go to
Vancouver City. Here is how it works. If you are DISCHARGED from
bankruptcy they will give 2 for one. So if you put up $1000 in term
deposit they will give you a $500 Visa card. So over years you can
restablish. But you must pay on time and not go over the limit. If you
do they will cancel the card. If you have a bad Credit Report like I
do, but no bankruptcy they will go 1 for 1. Deposit $500 and they will
give you a $500 card limit card. What you then do is apply to Home
Trust http://www.securedcreditcard.ca/
You can get as high a $10,000 on deposit. I applied for the minimum of
$1000. So with two cards Van City $500 and Home Trust $1000 you have
two cards. One for $500 and one for $1000. You treat them like gold.
Pay on time and do not apply for any credit. Over time (years) the
collections and bad debt on the two credit bureaus will be revoked.
Then you can apply for a car loan and mortgage loan and resptablish.
Then hit the banks for Platinum Cards. You need a job where you can
bushit. Get an accountant to say you are making $100,000 per year.
Visa, Master,Amex & Pat and you are in for $300,000. Retire the banks
can collect on the Life Insurance. This is good are Aids Patients.
