Credit card bait and switch, some information about it.
Consumers can now sue banks who offer no annual fee and then impose
fee at a later time.

Fleet is a bunch of scumbags. They bought up one of my credit card
providers and did their usual thing -- imposed an annual fee, hiked
the interest rate. I cut up the card and mailed it to them with a
letter saying I was closing my account because I didn't agree to the
new terms. They closed my account, okay, no hassle there, but now I'm
on their mailing list for life and they don't seem willing to take me
off of it. The scumbags STILL send me enough junk mail offering me "no
annual fee" cards to fill a trash barrel every few weeks. It's a
damned nuisance, because I have to open each one, pull out the offer
that has my name and address on it, and shred it in order to prevent
the dumpster divers from doing a job on me (yeah, we got a bad
identity theft problem here in Arizona).
What I can't figure out is how scumbags like this can stay in
business. Not only stay in business, but scumbags have bought up
virtually every other credit card provider too, and local banks,
S&L's, etc. no longer offer their own credit cards, they mostly resell
scumbags' products. The only thing I can think of is P.T. Barnum's old
adages: "You can fool some of the people all of the time", and,
"there's a sucker born every day."
