car financing-bad credit,please help me.
I was recently the victim of a scam at a local car dealership. Thank gawd I
came out relatively unscathed. My next step is to put the past behind me and
go to a different car dealer to try to get a new (or newer) car. One lesson
I learned from this ordeal is that it is safer to secure financing through a
bank or finance company BEFORE walking into the car dealership. The problem
is, I have a past bankruptcy. I need to find a finance company that a) deals
with people with people like me, and b) is above-all REPUTABLE. I am willing
to save up for and plop down a good downpayment... but only if I know it is
safe to do so. A relative of mine who is in the new-car business said I
would be able to get financing, but I'd need a hefty down-payment, so
apparently it's possible.
My question:
Does anyone in this newsgroup know of a REPUTABLE finance company that people
with past bankruptcies can deal with?
-Why don't you try a Credit Union. They are usually more lenient.
-The credit union I use won't even give you a *checking* account
if you have bad credit -- let alone a bankruptcy. On the other hand, their
fees are low to non-existent, and per
