I am in the process of evaluating Automotive CRM tools

I am in the process of evaluating Automotive CRM tools for our company, and right now
ACT is in the lead. Has anyone used Outlook for this type of application?

Does it allow synchronizing of contact information to a central repository?
If so, can it support public/private information?
Are additional fields defineable in outlook?
Does it have any reporting capabilities?
Is there a trial/demo version available?

If some of these require exchange, that would be ok, as we will have that
implemented as well.
1. You can put contacts in a public folder in Exchange and give anyone
access who needs it. Users can synchronize that information to their
individual computers and be able to view it offline.

2. You can make items private and they will be visible only to the creator.

3. Additional fields are available in Outlook. You can customize your
contact form and add any fields you want.
4. I'm not sure what you mean by reporting capabilities. You can put all
of the information in an Access database and run report from there. That
process can be automated as well. Can you be a little clearer on your
reporting needs?

5. I don't know about a trial version. When Outlook 2000 came out, I
believe a license was free to anyone who had an Exchange client license.
But I don't know if that offer is still in effect or if it has been changed.
You can order Outlook 2000 separate from Office 2000 though.

I hope I have answered some of your questions. We use Outlook for our CRM
and Sales Automation Software so if you have any more questions please ask.
