Apm Body Jewelry ?

Another spelling difference I noticed in a thread a couple of weeks ago: in

the UK 'jewellery' is used for both the body ornaments themselves and the

art of making them, whereas in the US, if I understand correctly, the former

is spelled 'jewelry' and the latter 'jewellery'.
I had to look this up. The, hrmph, OED says that

`jewellery' derives from `jeweller' and `jewelry' from

`jewel' but makes no distinction in meaning, apart from

saying that `jewelry' is more poetic and is nothing to do

with jewellers.
