The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) is at the forefront
of a major movement in the way preventive medicine approaches aging
in the United States. As we advance toward a new era of increasingly
powerful and sophisticated medical capability, A4M is dedicated to

technology. The physicians and scientists of A4M are committed to the

It is generally accepted by scientists, clinicians, and the public
that death or disability from cardiovascular disease, stroke, cancer,
diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders may be avoidable. Toward
this goal, health enthusiasts have begun reducing risk factors by
incorporating positive behaviors regarding nutrition, exercise, and
tobacco use into their daily lives. The American Academy of Anti-Aging
Medicine has progressed beyond advocating simple lifestyle change, and
is devoted to a science that optimizes the metabolic processes of life
itself.
The physicians and scientists at A4M seek to facilitate expeditious
advances in areas of longevity medicine that include genetic engineering,
hormonal replacement therapy, advanced diagnostics of preventable
disease, and the biomarkers of aging. We serve the practicing clinician
so that the multiple benefits of these life-saving and life-extending
technologies may be more rapidly available to the public. We ask of
ourselves and our colleagues open-mindedness and self-reflection,
essential qualities to the advancement of our profession.
We've gone beyond merely verbalizing ideas. We are currently
developing therapeutic protocols and innovative diagnostic tools to
aid physicians in the implementation of effective longevity treatment.

Dr. Roy Walford
Chief of Medical Operations, Space Biospheres Ventures (Biosphere 2).
Dr. Walford is a graduate of the University of Chicago Medical School
and a renowned clinician and research scientist at U.C.L.A. Medical
School. A delegate to the White House Conference on Aging, he is a
recognized author and has received numerous awards, including the
American Aging Association Research Award (1980).
Richard Cutler, Ph.D.
Research Chemist at the Gerontology Research Center, National Institute
on Aging; specializing in the genetic and biochemical basis of human
longevity. Dr. Cutler is a world-distinguished researcher and educator,
earning his doctoral degree in biophysics from the University of Houston.
An Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at the University of Maryland in
Baltimore, he has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific
journals.
Dr. Arthur Balin
Noted clinician, author, and researcher. Dr. Balin's reasearch addresses
the mechanisms of the aging process in skin cancer and wound healing in the
elderly. He is editor-in-chief of AGE, the Journal of the American Aging
Association, and serves on the editorial board of numerous scientific
journals. Dr. Balin completed his medical and doctoral degrees in
Biochemistry at the University of Pennsylvania and is board certified
in five medical specialties.
Dr. Ronald Klatz
Senior Medical Editor for Longevity Magazine. The founder and president
of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Klatz is recognized
as one of the foremost authorities in preventive/longevity medicine and
maximum human performance. He has developed the life resuscitation device
and is the senior medical consultant to the American Longevity Research
Institute.
Dr. Julian M. Whitaker
Noted author, editor-in-chief of the Health & Healing newsletter, and
president of the American Preventative Medical Association. A graduate
of Emory University Medical School, Dr. Whitaker has practiced alternative
preventive medicine for over 25 years and currently serves as the Medical
Director of the Whitaker Wellness Center in Newport Beach, California.
A4M LOOKS TOWARD TOMORROW
At the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), the present and the
future intersect. To commemorate the Second Annual Conference on Anti-Aging
Medicine and Biomedical Technology, the Academy is preparing a time capsule
in which conference attendees may place a self-addressed message to be mailed
back to them 50 years hence. The capsule, which will be displayed in the
shady splendor of a garden at the Alexis Park Resort, the site of this year's
symposium, will contain a video and written record of the conference as a
scientific legacy for posterity. It is intended as a monument to those
