Role of Herbs and Nutrition in Chronic Pain Relief
Am reseasrching the role of herbs, vitamins, and vitamin supplements in
chronic pain relief. Please advise what herbs, vitamins, vitamin
supplements and foods are effective in relieving or healing chronic
pain.
In the treatment of the middle-aged to elderly patient, I
recommend the combination of (1) transdermal, natural
progesterone (not to be confused with "progestin" which has had
molecular alteration for patent and sale purposes by major
pharmaceutical companies) and (2) nocturnal, oral melatonin to
restore nocturnal sleep hormone amplitudes. I will be
recommending controlled clinical studies on this combination
before the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine Annual
meeting on Dec 4-6, 1994 which I will be attending.
This combination is designed to "jump start" cell, tissue,
organ, organ-system regeneration which includes soft-tissue
injury and chronic degenerative musculoskeletal changes in the
middle-aged to elderly. This approach is "state of the art" in
placing a biological system back into a regenerative rather
than degenerative mode.
