Help with Post Laser treatment spots
I recently (2 months ago) underwent a laser
treatment on my face to remove two small black
spots. The person who carried out the procedure
had informed me that she would use a C02 laser to
remove the spots, and they would heal in about 2
weeks.
I should explain that I am Indian, with what you
may call an Olive skin tone.
After the procedure I had expected some healing
(the doctor prescribed a mild retin-a based
cream) and after three weeks began to panic as
the area around the spots had remained MUCH
whiter than the rest of my skin. This occurs in
two areas, on the cheek and on the forhead. Of
course this is causing me much grief!
I went for a second opinion and this doctor has
me on the following treatments:
- vitamin A capsule taken orally (roaccutaine)
- n6 furfuryladenine, 0.1% Hyalluronic Acid
- "skin repair"
All of these seem to be 'home brewed' solutions.
I am extremely nervous that the whiteness will
persist. The color is improving, but extremely
slowly and the area is still whitish pink in
color. Please, if anyone can help me with this
situation, I would be greatly appreciative of any
advise or comments you may have.
The idea behind laser treatments is that the laser is attracted more so to
dark pigments, ie: dark skin, dark/brown or black hair, dark scars. One
reason why such things as "stretchmarks" are no longer treatable by laser
after they have lightened on their own. The person giving you laser
treatments should know this and if they did, they should have warned you
about it. If the Vitamin 'A' pill you are taken is Accutane, then that is
most certainly not a "home brewed" solution. Accutane is currently the top
strongest medicine they use in treatment of acne.
