hand care

I've recently started doing a lot more around the house and garden (yes, its
that time of year!) and my hands have become so rough that they literally
feel like sandpaper. Can anyone recommend a good hand cream, preferably
low-end and available in the UK? I've been trying Vaseline Intensive Care
lotion, but it soaks right in and does nothing. By the by, I suspect that it
is Persil washing-up liquid that has done the damage, if anyone else uses
it....
TBS Hemp Hand Protector is excellent, esp. if you've been gardening or
cleaning around the house without the gloves. It has a weird smell, but
it really softens and soothes the skin. Persil is quite harsh on the
hands (in fact, most cleaning products are), so I'd suggest rubber
gloves if you can stand wearing them. EA Eight Hour Cream (not low-end,
I know, but it lasts for years) is good for particularly dry or cracked
skin on the hands. It's perhaps too greasy for use during the day, but
you could try applying it to the driest areas before you go to sleep.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula works well too. I don't know whether
Atrix (or Atrixo) is available in the UK, but if it is, it should be
both affordable and effective - try the intensive formula.
