ACNE treatment without antibotics? Is there a way?
I am one of the many millions of adults that put up with pesky skin
problems.
I have been through two ACCUTANE treatments and taken every antibiotic on
the market. I have even resorted to using light cover-up cosmetics to
protect my image. I ups and downs from week to week and nothing has
consistently worked. I wonder if anyone out there has had a good response
from any OTC treatments or natural applications.
Please share ALL experiences both ingestibles and external applications.
YES-Physicians are encouraged to respond. And even more, adults with
light acne problems are encouraged to participate.
-It should be kept in mind that some (certainly not all) of those who
suffer with skin problems are reacting to foods. In my case I had a
number of reactions to grains. One of the unexpected benefits of my
grain free diet was that very long standing skin problems disappeared
completely. (If ONLY I had known in my teenage years!) Keep an open
mind and experiment with diet a little (within reason).
-Try to find out if you have any hidden food allergies/sensitivities. Skin
erruptions can be caused by allergic reactions to many substances and all the
antibiotics and ointments available will not help much if this is the problem.
There are books available which describe various elimination and diagnostic
diets to help you track down hidden sensitivities - check out your local
library - or you could seek out the services of an allergist or specialist in
Environmental Medicine (contact the American Academy of Environmental Medicine
for a list of specialists near you). Soaps, creams, detergents and other
topical substances can also aggravate skin problems, as can various
environmental pollutants. You may find keeping a diary for a month or so and
listing what you eat and what you are exposed to in your environment along
with any changes in your skin can be helpful. Sometimes you don't notice
things from day to day but if you keep a daily record for a period of time you
will start to notice a pattern to how you feel/look with various exposures or
dietary changes.
