Has anyone tried the Sher System?
About 10 years ago I had a course of ROACCUTANE, which I assume is a UK
brand of the drug referred to as Accutane in this news group. My skin
definately showed a major improvement, and my acne is now probably
equivalent of 'mild teenange' however I am now 34.
While I was on the course I was warned that my skin would be sensitive to
the sin, this was true, however 10 years on my skin is still very dry and
sun sensitive, I have to wear factor 20 sun screen, twice a day 365 days a
year. If not my face is soon red and very dry. Even with this protection
an hour in the sun and my face is very red, wind has that affect also.
Before the course I could stay out all day without sun screen ! My acne is
now mainly around and in my ears, along the jaw line, round and on my nose
and along my heair line and normally is just a red cycst that seems to be
re-absorbed, occationally it gets filled with white pus and bursts.
I get the general impression that over the years my skin is getting more
sensitive, although the acne is getting better, (I vaguely correlate this
with the associated increasing use of sun screen). It also seems to improve
a little when I swin a lot. I believe my acne to be roughly on a monthly
cycle.
I am no longer using an acne drugs or topical preparations.
Is this what you would expect ?
Are there any risks associated with such long term use of sun screen ?
Is it worth trying anything new ?
Although my acne is now mild, in a business environment having spots in your
ears or nose the burst and bleed in meetings etc, is not exactly easy to
live with, nor is the white pasty complexion you get from layers of factor
20 sun screen.
I was wondering if you had tried antibiotics at any time. I have a
problem where my skin is so sensative that acne skin cleansers are
actually PAINFUL (SeaBreeze etc). I'm 40 and I still get outbreaks under
stress. It really seems to do with my general body chemistry and not
with any particular diet.
