Neutrogena Product Rant

for ages now I've used Neutrogena Clear Pore treatment (you put it
onyour face at night and sleep in it) and their Oil-Free Acne Wash. I'm
the most non-chemistry-oriented goth around, so their active ingredient
(salicylic acid, 2%) really meant nothing to me. I find out this
is...aspirin. Huh? Okay, so its anti-inflammatory, but what will it
actually do to prevent breakout/clear pores?

I have fairly clear skin that tends to break out occasionally as I smoke a
lot and eat "bad" foods. Anyone know of some good skincare products, or
what I should be looking for as the active ingredients?
- Well, you can try the AlphaHydroxy Oil-free facial wash and their
lotion. Tea tree oil helps but tends to over dry the skin. Or look
for anything that says glycolic acid.
I think their main purpose is to dry out the pimple. The tea tree
oil is more like an anti-bacterial agent. AlphaHydroxy exfoliates
the skin to remove the dead skin, preventing clogged pores.
Last but not least, drink lots of water.

-acetylsalicylic acid = asprin
salicylic acid in the diluted form you find in skin care products dries
and removes the top layer of skin, exposing younger, undamaged skin
beneath. This along with the soap or other cleaning agent keeps your
skin clean, fresh and clear.

I use the neutragena stuff too..it works great for me
