skin care for teenage boy

You always hear about skin care for teenage girls, but what about boys?

I have a-on-the-verge-teenager who is a boy. He's got a couple not so
serious break-outs on his forehead. I've been buying him facewash (clean
& clear acne face foam wash and persa-gel). And I've noticed very little
difference.

I'm wondering if maybe he needs moisturizing also? His cheeks have these
lil miniscule bumps and they feel dry. Perhaps the regiment I've put him
on is to harsh for his skin. Or perhaps caring for male skin is
different the female? I dunno, some input would be nice.

and another thing...this ones for me. I recently came across some
perfume called BCBGirls (?) something like that.. does anyone know where
I can find them at? I fell in love with one of their scent, now I gotta
have it!!
there is no real difference between the sexes in terms of treating acne,
except that, unfortunately, boys often get it worse than girls.

I am not surprised. why? acne is hormonal, mostly, not caused bya lack
of cleanliness. A good cleanser is *definitely* a good start, but it
won't clear up his skin. he needs medication for that... so... (keep
reading!)

I doubt it. But it does sound like he might benefit from some improved
exfoliation. I might suggest something like the following regimen, and if
it fails after a 12 week trial, take him to his doctor or to a
dermatologist.

wash: a.m. and p.m. with a nondrying non soap acne cleanser. My favorite
is Clearasil daily foaming face wash. just moisten face, wash, and rinse,
do not overscrub.

a.m. - swipe with a salicylic acid toner or with Stridex sensitive skin
pad, let dry, then apply an oil free SPF 30. Coppertone makes a very nice
one (comes in a gold-coloured upside-down tubey thing).

when he gets home from school: wash gently, rinse well. If skin is
feeling annoyingly dry to HIM, apply Cetaphil moisturizer in the green
tub. (assuming he's not going out again)

before bed, wash again (ir splash very well with water only), then apply a
5% benzoyl peroxide gel, let dry well before going to bed, carefully
avoiding eyes, corners of lips, and edges of nostrils.
swtich him to a white pillowcase and change it every few days, using no
fabric softener. (white because the BP is bleaching to fabrics...)
