Favorite skin care products

I was originally going to ask, "If you could use just one product..." but
realized I may miss out on some useful recommendations!

The issue: my skin has some sun damage (freckles/sun spots) and I have some
worry lines across my forehead, as well as constant breakouts for the past
few years (since I moved back to CA from the desert, it seems). I'd like
something for combination skin, with UVA/B protection (zinc oxide or the
like), and that perhaps makes skin look better (lessen red areas, sun spots
and lines, if possible). Oh, and I'd like it to not be too expensive. Too
much to ask for?

So...what is your favorite product (or products) that do these things? Where
do you get them if not in a drug store?

Personally, I've been using Olay as far back as I can recall--currently I
use the Complete lotion with UV protection for sensitive skin, but I'm
wondering if I should switch to something for combination/oily skin due to
the breakouts.
i just went to a training class on selecting skincare
according to this class:
there are 2 factors for selecting skin care
1.) skin type (normal/combo,oily and dry)
chose your cleanser/toner and moisterizer based on type

2.) skin concerns/issues ( redness,sensitivity, hyperpigmentation, aging,
acneic)
choose your treatment products based on issues
generally best to take the most important issue first

you talked about:
combination skin
with hyperpigmentation
aging
and breakouts

we all have our biases
i LOVE murad
i would reccomend the murad vitamin C line
nice gentle sudsing cleanser- gets you clean but dosent strip skin.
moisterizer is light (not greasy) and gives uva/uvb protection.

additional sun exposure will make pigmentation issues worse
and sun is responsible for 80 -90% of visable aging.
(horrifing isnt it?) so protect yourself.

vitamin c is an antioxidant and at high levels helps the skin repair old
damage as well as resist new damage.
vita c is also good for pigmentation issues nd can lessen sun spots over
time.
additionally vita c can stimulate collagen production helping the skin
maintain its youthful firmness and resiliancy.

ther is a start up kit available with the cleanser, eye cream, treament
cream and the uva/uvb moisterizer for about $60. i use these items now and
i love them esp the eye cream and cleanser and moisterizer and the treatment
cream is really great.
told you i am biased.
and i dont get red from this either (roseacea and sensitive....crazy skin of
mine)
i think youd really l.ike it.
its at ulta, sephora, bath and body and at murad.com too
i do use less product with murad then with other lower priced items but if
$60 isnt going to work, look for a product line with vita c.

you didnt describe the breakouts
on chin? cheeks? forehead?
we usually grab the maurad acne spot treatment ($16) if one of us gets a
spot at work or i have the anti acne anti aging stuff at home
id look for a spot treament with salisilic acid for this if its sporadic
(1 or 2 at a time) or do a clay mask at least once a week with salisilic if
its more blemishes or more of them

i feel that my skin gets used to skincare like my hair will get used to
shampoo/conditioner/styling product
switching it up can be helpful

also, the skin changes with climate, season, time, stress and HORMONES
what was great 10 or 5 or 2 years ago..........
you may find you like something else better now

most places will let you return or exchange if something dosent work
i always ask about that before i buy

probably more info then you ever wanted but i am a little nuts about
skincare and having just had 2 days of training (heaven!)
