Brands of sunscreen, foundation, and powder for acne-prone skin?
If you have acne-prone skin and have found brands of
foundation and powder that do not make it worse, please let me know!
Also, if anyone knows of a sunscreen that doesn't cause one's skin to
break out AND IS NOT ALCOHOL-BASED, please let me know that, too
-I use Clinique Stay Natural base, which has never given me any problems.
All of my friends with similar sensitive, easily acne-prone skin wear it
and it's never given them bad results. I do have acne, but even my
dermatologist assured me that it was not the base, but rather the oily
skin that was causing it. He said that any Clinique products are okay,
and that the Pore Minimizer liquid is the best, if you'd like to try that.
-I used to have combination & acne-promblem skin, but it is under control.
But I am still selective about the makeup / skincare I use - to control the
oil & not drying & also cause breakouts.
I use Clarins, oily skin care range. & for foundation I find the YSL Pirmer
(make-up base) is good. It is definitely on oily & stays. I wear that under
my foundation. The good ones I tried are Prescriptives Virual Skin, Clinique
Superbalance makeup & Covergirl Clarifying makeup. I am still using the
first, but the CoverGirl makeup line is no longer selling here. (I live in
Singapore. Anybody know why?)
Anyway, for compact, try Origins or CoverGirl or YSL. Some for loose powder,
although I recommend (& practice it myself & have post this before) to puff
on baby powder (like Johnson & Johnson) onto the whole face after
foundation, before putting on compact powder or tinted loose powder. It
definitely will absorb oil & you find that you eventually require less
compact / loose powder per application. Hence, it will last longer. It is
hypoallergebic & cheap too. Try it.
On days when you want to less makeup but stil use some, I find that the YSL
Primer + baby powder + compact is sufficient. Get a YSL Primer that is
tinted. - No 2. (Peach) is good for most fair to light medium skin. If you
want to try a compact foundation (i.e. 2-way cake) I find YSL is good. It is
light enough but has resonable coverage. I sometimes use that in: YSL
Primer - baby powder + YSL 2-way cake (but use it dry).
