Acid Reflux
i had my baby about 5 1/2 weeks ago, and just within the last 3 days i have noticed that i have bad acid reflux. now when i was pregnant i only got it the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy... then after i had her i didnt get it at all... but now its with ANYTHING i eat or drink. most of the time i cant eat whatever i want but if i take a nap or go to sleep at night, when i wake up i have it really bad... just the last day or 2 at most, it has been like that without me going to sleep... i have tryed tums even the extra streight ones and it mellows it out some but not enough to really relieve it. i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to calm it down enough to where you didnt feel like you were gonna die every min of the day?
A really good way to deal with acid reflux is to use apple cider vinegar. Get yourself some organic apple cider vinegar and put two tablespoons full in a glass with cold water. Drink up!! Taken half an hour before each meal will help your digestive system assimilate your food by doing the job that hydrochloric acid in your stomach does.
Although it might seem that apple cider vinegar would have an acidifying effect on the body, the acid it contains actually has an alkalising effect on the system. A foods acid or alkaline forming tendancy in the body has nothing to do with the actual PH level of the food itself. eg: lemons are very acidic, however, the end products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so, lemons are alkaline forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion, but it leaves very acidic residue in the body, so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acid forming.
It's all to do with your body's PH level. It affects everything. The perfect blood PH level is 7.4 which is actually slightly more alkaline than acid and therefore equals perfect health. Any level below is considered to be acid.
Perhaps your diet has been acid forming??? This is one of the causes of acid reflux. Simply put, you have ingested too many acid forming foods in your diet. To repair an acid body try to consume 80% alkaline foods to 20% acid foods.
Alkalising foods are those such as apples, apricots, bananas, berries, cantalope, grapes, lemons, oranges, pears, tomatoes, watermelon, almonds, chestnut, millet, tempeh (fermented) tofu (fermented), whey protein powder, leafy green vegies, carrotts, broccolli, lettuce, mushrooms, pumpkin, spirulina, sweet potatoes, watercress and wheat grass. Also all vegie juices, probiotic cultures, blackstrap mollasses, lecithin granules, green juices , bee pollen and fresh fruit juices. .
