Acid Reflux Help
I wrote recently that I'm having a problem with severe anemia and
I have to take iron pills - well the iron pills (and there seems
to be no getting around taking them unless I can talk the doctor
into letting me self-inject iron) cause me *EXTREME* acid reflux.
Perhaps that is why he wanted you to take the absurdly expensive
ones.
I don't think so, from what the pharmacist said there is little
difference between the ferrous sulfate along with vitamin C and
the Niferex. I just have a problem with acid reflux to begin with
Does taking them with a small amount of food help? (pick foods
that won't interfere with iron absorption).
I tried just taking it with a glass of orange juice and a couple of dried
figs (the OJ to help absorption and the figs because they have a goodly
amount of iron), but I had to run downstairs to get two Zantacs and about 12
Tums because I had acid reflux too bad to stand (and the antacids kept the
iron from being absorbed, I'm sure, rendering all the pain for nothing). I
can take it with just an orange and lots of water around 10:00AM, but
towards evening I have to take it with a full meal and lots of water. I
won't even attempt to take any at night. So I'm only taking it twice a day
instead of three times a day as advised, but I also changed my diet to
include lots of foods high in iron so I'm hoping that makes up for it.
