Acid Reflux Comic
I'll stop myself before I start ranting for several thosand words--an
exercise that will accomplish little save the temporary emptying of my
e'er-brimming spleen. I'll just sum up by saying that there are many
reasons that, though I love the comic format, there are currently only
two series extant that I am willing to plunk down $2.50 a month for.
Which? I'm down to three and a half, myself.
Anyone has any comment about this please?
It's very sad. Vertigo used to have such a wide range of good
titles--Invisibles, Preacher, Transmet, Books of Magic, and of course
Sandman. Now Transmet is due to finish off sometime next year, and I
read Names of Magic mostly as inertia from Books of Magic.
Mostly I find myself reading online daily comic strips--mostly Keenspot
since they are all in one place. I enjoy Avalon, It's Walky, Bobbins,
Nukees, RPG World, ?, Class Menagerie, College Roomies From Hell!!!,
Sluggy Freelance, Kevin & Kell, Sexy Losers, Acid Reflux, and occasional
doses of others like Sinfest or Suburban Jungle. These are not comic
books, but at least they marry image and text together in a narrative
context, so that's something. None of these are the next Bloom County
either, but they all have their moments.
